This painting is part of a series depicting places that are a hybrid, combining reality with idealization. Places are concepts, not concrete spaces, because they relate to the feeling they evoke when someone is there. They can also be a combination of several locations, and their synthesis aims to express a feeling common to all of them. However, this experience occurs because there is a visual movement, a shift in perspective that is related to the journey, which can be either a real journey or a journey of the mind.
The relevant fact of the "Walking The Land" series, which is after all a landscape theme, is that the nature of the paintings would be different if the act of walking was not associated with the way to get there, with the slow crossing of the distance between two points and the preparation that the route introduces to the state of consciousness. In this way, geography is the relationship between the past and the future, it is the strength of the present moment. The real content of the works in this series is movement and not "Stasis" - (permanence). There is a flow in every image that has to do with time that highlights the importance of consciousness. Places would not be portrayed in the same way if it were not necessary to walk to get there, if each new landscape was not so deeply embedded in all the previous landscapes and in all the ones that follow. This complementarity values the surroundings as part of the knowledge about the center, in this way the mental landscape becomes the synthesis of the journey.
